BioShock’s Arcadia Level Remade for Doom II

BioShock 2’s Lead Level Designer, JP LeBreton has created an homage to BioShock that can be downloaded and played on, well, any PC. The homage is a recreation of BioShock’s lush Arcadia level that was populated with trees, caves and rolling (albeit small) fields. The player has to restore oxygen to the system, which will allow the trees to flourish again and continue to provide oxygen to the city of Rapture.

BioShock 2’s PC Widescreen Issue Getting Patched

Two weeks after BioShock 2’s release, the title’s PC version will receive an update that fixes a widescreen issue that was present in the first game in the series as well.

PC Gamers began complaining almost immediately that BioShock 2’s widescreen mode falsely replicated the appearance of a widescreen picture by cutting off portions from the top and bottom of the screen. Rather than adjusting the picture to a standard 16:9 or 16:10 widescreen ratio, the developers chose to crop a standard-definition 4:3 resolution effectively removing portions of the game world.

The problem was present in BioShock as well when it was released in 2007 and many PC gamers were astounded that 2K allowed the issue to creep in a second time. The update will arrive sometime today.

BioShock 2 DLC Arriving Soon

2K Games has announced that expansions for BioShock 2 will be arriving over the coming months and that the DLC packages will expand both the single player and multiplayer aspects of the game.

The first DLC package, announced today, is the “Sinclair Solutions Test Pack,” which will be available next month on Xbox LIVE and PSN for 400 MS Points and $4.99, respectively.

The “Sinclair Solutions Test Pack” DLC will enhance the multiplayer aspect of BioShock 2 by enabling players to reach level 50 with Rank Rewards, will include new playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca and will also feature 20 new trials, a third upgrade for each weapon, and five new masks. Some of the items, such as the masks and trails, will only become available to players who reach a rank of 41 or higher.
