Speaking to shareholders in a private Q&A session on June 29, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata confirmed that the company is indeed working on a new console. “We are of course studying and developing the next console to the Wii,” said Iwata. “However, there is a big difference between studying a product and announcing what it is and when we will release it.”

Don’t worry parents, the federal government and video games will take it from here.  It was recently announced that the federal government is funding a project that will help teenage girls resist peer pressure to have sex before they’re ready. The project comes in the form of a social simulator, and will place players in the shoes of an average teenage girl at a mall, movie theater, and other popular teen hangouts, resisting an onslaught of boys out to steal their innocence.

Well, maybe that’s not entirely fair. But you get the idea…

I might not watch football much these days, but I’m still a fan of the Madden NFL series.  There’s just nothing quite like the feeling of being down six points with ten seconds left on the clock and bombing the ball eighty yards down field in a last ditch hail Mary to win the game.  But if there’s one thing that bothered me about the franchise as a whole, it’s that the developers always feel the need to minimze your achievements, as if it wasn’t impressive to get a shutout Superbowl win after an undefeated season on All Madden difficulty.  It’s as if the game was saying “Nice job winning the Superbowl.  Here’s a packet of confetti.  Sprinkle it on yourself and go home.”  This is one issue that seems to have been addressed in Madden NFL 11.

Throughout history, two fighting fighting series have stood head and shoulders above the rest. Street Fighter, when it was released back in the 80s, took the world by storm, popularizing a relatively new genre. The game went unrivaled until almost a decade later, when Tekken exploded onto the world scene. Ever since, fans of the two series have been at each others’ throats, locked in a battle to decide which franchise was better. Unfortunately, neither fan base has had the chance to win a clear-cut victory over the other…until now.

There’s no contest.  The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was, without a doubt, the best title released on the N64.  It may just be the greatest adventure title to date.  There are even people who argue that it’s the best game ever.  With the game having enjoyed such monstrous success, it’s only natural that gamers worldwide should be excited for the title’s 3D makeover, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
