Why am I personally going to play video games for 25 straight hours? Read on to find out.

It’s easy to see an article about a charity event and just go right past it. Everyone seems to want a hand out these days, and very few us will ever benefit from any of the countless organizations begging for our bucks. Times are financially hard right now across the board. Unemployment is still high and our Country is still in trouble, and that only adds to the problems parents might have if their kids are afflicted or come down with any of the countless ailments that may befall them. This is where the Children’s Miracle Network can step in and ease that financial burden and get help to those that are truly in need, but can’t afford to pay the doctor’s bills. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, not just because I’m a parent of three kids (and a grand-parent to two), but also because they assisted me years ago.

When my oldest daughter was two years old, she had a problem with her legs being bowed. I was young and without any health insurance for my kids, I wasn’t sure how this could be dealt with. Our doctor recommended that we contact the children’s hospital in Dallas as they might be able to help. We were able to set-up an appointment within a couple of months and our fears were eased somewhat.

They did x-rays and a CAT scan and determined that she would probably grow out of it. They set us up with a follow-up appointment for 6 months later. When we went back, they once again took x-rays and a CAT scan. at no cost to anyone, and my daughter was already doing better. Had she needed braces, they would have paid for that as well.

It might be hard for someone who isn’t a parent to understand the fear that comes from not knowing if your child will ever be normal, or could possibly need to wear braces for many years, or if you have no idea how you would pay for any of the the doctor’s bills that might start to pile-up. As a parent, bills always come second to the well being of your child and you would gladly sell everything you own in order to make your child well or to bring normalcy to their lives. Their care and well being should always come first, and the Children’s Miracle Network can ease the hardships that come with costly operations, equipment, tests, etc. that can pile up quickly when one has to deal with a medical crisis.

I am currently on a fund raising team with my friends and colleagues from PlayStation LifeStyle and we would really appreciate any and all help we can get. We will be playing from 7am PST on Saturday Nov. 2nd until Sunday 7am PST Nov. 3rd. Time changes this weekend so be sure to set your clocks back an hour Sunday morning, which in turn means we get to play for 25 hours instead of 24.

I will be streaming all of our gameplay on TerminalGamer’s UStream channel while PlayStation Lifestyle will be streaming on their Twitch channel.

Games played will include GTA V, games from the Uncharted series, The Last of Us MP, possibly Battlefield 4, Call of Duty games, Saints Row IV, and many others.

If you can donate at all, please do. Any amount is welcome and every little bit counts
