Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

1964 – Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater

The origin of the Metal Gear series begins in 1964 at the height of the cold war. Naked Snake-the man who would later become the legendary soldier known as Big Boss-heads into Soviet territory to help the scientist Sokolov defect to the West. However, the mission ends in failure when snake’s mentor, a female solider known as The Boss, unexpectedly defects to the Soviet Union, The fate of the world hanging in the balance, Snake is forced to question the true meaning of “Loyalty”, as he embarks on a lone mission to kill his former mentor.

Young Snake

MGS 3 begins with the story of the Cuban missile crisis on October 16, 1962, how the Russia put Nuclear Missiles in Cuba . After days of tense negations, the Soviets finally agreed on the 28th to withdraw there missiles form Cuban soil. However, there was a secret condition in the deal that put an to the crisis. Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, a Soviet scientist who had defected to the West, was to be sent back to the Soviet Union. The U.s. government agreed to this situation, and returned Sokolov to his native land. But they were no aware of that Sokolov was to be the designer of a nightmarish weapon.

That is when Naked Snake is deployed to a base south of the Soviet fortress of Groznyj Grad to re capture him.

Metal Gear Solid 3 re-mastered in HD visually is fantastic. I love how everything looks, from the characters to the surroundings. The story is still so fun to play, of course. I mean come on, its Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

The era is the 1970′s, Big Boss has stationed his “Army without a Nation” in Columbia, South America, where he is approached by visitors fro Costa Rica–” a Nation without a Military.

Mother Base

In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, Latin America became key to maintaining the power balance between East and West. But now, a mysterious armed force threatens to disrupt this balance. To preserve peace and neutrality in Costa Rica, the “Soldiers without Boarders” move into action . In time, they would come to be known as the founders of “Outer Haven”

Overall the change from the PlayStation Portable to PlayStation 3 is just amazing, the graphics look great, the game play is fun, the controls are easy. This conversion is a win.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Manhattan Tanker Incident and Big Shell incident:

After the Shadow Moses incident, technological data on the nuclear armed walking tank “Metal Gear” leak on onto the black market. Solid Snake and his allies from the anti-Metal Gear NGO “Philanthropy” set out in pursuit of a tanker carrying a new Metal Gear Prototype. Snake falls into a trap set by former FOXHOUND member Ocelot, and is believed lost aong with the tanker at the bottom of the Hudson.

Two Years later, the Big Shell, an oil spill clean up facility constructed on the bay, is taken over by terrorists led by a man claiming to be the long-lost Solid Snake. The government send Raiden, a new recruit in the new FOXHOUND, to infiltrate the Big Shell and rescue the US President, who is held hostage inside…

Metal Gear Solid 2 graphics and Scenery have greatly improved since being re-mastered in HD. I love how the Snake Tales are already in the menu (5 mini missions selected from the main menu). the game feels and plays the same as the original, which is very nice.

The Metal Gear Solid HD collection is amazing. I’m a die hard MGS fan and I love how it’s all re-done. So if your a die hard fan like me and just love the MGS series then go pick up this collection right now for the PS3 or Xbox 360 platforms. And remember, this is 3 games in one with trophy’s/achievements, plus online. Such a win.

Now this is my cup of tea.
