It seems that in the last few years, the racing genre has under gone a fundamental shift heavily in the direction of the simulation racer. Games like Grid, The Grand Turismo , Project Gotham and Forza Motorsport series have all released one or more iterations putting players behind the controls of high powered racing vehicles attempting to recreate real life racing as closely as possible. This after a long period where we saw entries in the more arcade style Need for Speed and Midnight Club series on pretty much a yearly basis.

Now, Bizarre Creations, the team behind one of those stalwart simulation series, the Project Gotham Series, is throwing its hat into the arcade ring, with Blur. Dubbed “powered up racing” Blur combines the high octane racing of an arcade street racer, with the competitive elements of Twisted Metal and Mario Kart. In honor of Memorial Day, the Call of Duty the has initiated the Call of Duty Endowment page on Facebook.

The Call of Duty Endowment Facebook page was created in order to help raise awareness and funding for Hire Heroes USA, a group that finds jobs for veterans. For each person that “Likes” Activison’s Call of Duty Endowment page, Activision will give $1 to the group, up to $50,000. It’s a great cause to honor the heroes of this country on Memorial Day weekend, so please “Like” the page now.

“Like” the group by noon on Memorial Day and help Hire Heroes USA help lots of veterans. It currently has over 6,000 “Likes” but let’s make sure it reaches $50,000.

The NPD just issued a new report called Gamer Segmentation 2010, and according to their research, the most extreme gamers play 48.5 hours per week. If you think that’s a lot of gaming, it is. That’s about 7 hours per day. When do they find time to do anything such as cook, eat, drink, or even minor things like sleeping, work, and going to the bathroom?
