Sony Santa Monica developer Tim Moss announced via Twitter that God of War III will require over 35 GB of space on Blu-ray when it releases in March. The announcement relays the enormous size of the game and suggests that the art design should be second-to-none.
A Blu-ray Disc can hold 20 to 50 GB of data and a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc can contain 50 to 100 GB of information. Moss’ tweet suggests that the game will ship on a dual-layer disc, saying, “35Gb of goodness. Thank heavens for Dual Layer Blu-Rays.”
In comparison, a DVD can hold up to 8.5 GB of information.
In addition, Moss also revealed that the European edition of the game will probably require 40 GB of data due to extra language files.
God of War III is scheduled for release on March 16 in North America. It has been developed by Sony Santa Monica and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment America. It will be available on the PlayStation 3.

God of War 1 and 2 were awesome……. i though the graphics on the PS2 we’re good, now im going to s@#$ my pants when i get God of War III haha….. i preordered it when it first went up on Amazon.com….. it’s going to look good on my custom 75 inch HDTV
Thus we begin to see the advantage of Blu-Ray over DVD. Just earlier this week Capcom stated that the upcoming Lost Planet title would lack content on the 360 port due to lack of space.
God of War 3 will be a very good candidate for game of the year.
Blu-ray dual-layers hold 50GB and hddvd holds 30Gb on a dual-layer..
which are what the PS3 and 360 use respectively…
the new 100 GB blu-rays are hardly in production
at any rate 35 GB of goodness indeed
ONLY on the PS3
@ Joe – to clarify, the Xbox 360 does not use an HD DVD. I only own an Xbox 360, but the HD DVD capabilities for an Xbox 360 come in an external drive that can be purchased solely for watching HD movies. Xbox 360 games use standard DVDs.
is the pc version for God Of war 3 going tobe unleashed in the market????
