StarCraft II Beta System Requirements Revealed [For Real!]

Blizzard unveiled the minimum system requirements for the StarCraft II Beta today. This comes only a few weeks after false system requirements were unveiled on Blizzard’s forums and we’re quickly announced as such by Blizzard and taken down.

It seems that the system requirements will enable a large portion of PC gamers to play Blizzard’s latest title – that is, if they’re lucky enough to get a beta code.

The minimum system requirements can be seen here and keep an eye out for the beta’s release date – it’s scheduled for sometime this spring, and we’re guessing it will be sooner rather than later given the release of the system requirements today. Yay!

System Requirements

  • Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
  • 2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
  • 1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
  • 128 MB Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
  • 1024×768 minimum display resolution
  • 4 GB free hard drive space
  • Broadband connection

Keep in mind that these are beta requirements and that they are subject to change for the final version of the game (though we think only the hard drive space will actually change) and that there will also be a Mac version of the game (but no Mac beta).

I’ve been a member of battle.net for years and have WC3: Reign of Chaos, The Frozen Throne, Starcraft, and Diablo II. It feels like I waited over 10 years for the 2nd installment of this game, and I never got my beta key through battle.net tho, I actually got tired of waiting and came upon this site that had a couple hundred keys to give out. I’m not sure if they still have any keys available, but this was the site: http://gamebetakeys.com/starcraft2/

I think that they get new keys every few days so it’s best to check back now and then.
