BioWare Announces That Dragon Age: Origins Sales Have Reached 3.2 Million

February 10, 2010 - Dragon Age: Origins has sold over 3.2 million units worldwide, according to developer BioWare. The Edmonton, Alberta based company announced via press release that the game has gone triple platinum since its release in the fall of 2009 and has won over 30 “Best of 2009″ awards.

Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder of BioWare said in the statement, “This is a tremendous start for the Dragon Age franchise and we are extremely pleased with the great reception the game has already received from critics and fans worldwide. Our team is dedicating to crafting high quality, engaging new adventures and stories in the world Ferelden for our fans!”

The news comes with the unveiling of EA’s 3rd Quarter 2010 Fiscal results, which included a 2011 Fiscal calendar that indicated a new Dragon Age title would be in the works in addition to “something far-reaching” from Mass Effect.

It has been an excellent fiscal 2010 for BioWare, a division of EA. Dragon Age: Origins saw incredible critical and commercial success and Mass Effect 2 sold more than 2 million units in its first week of release.

BioWare is currently working on Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, a large expansion pack for the game that will release on March 16.
