A factory-sealed copy of Stadium Events for the Nintendo Entertainment System sold for $41,300 last night, shattering the previous record price for a video game collectible. The auction, held on eBay, eclipsed the old record of $20,100 after only three days of bidding and is evidence of the growing market for collectibles amongst video game enthusiasts.

There were 115 bids over the course of 10 days. The initial bid was only 99 cents but quickly jumped to $9,800 after one day of bidding. The price steadily remained in the range of $22,000 for several days before ascending hurriedly in the final hours of the bidding to the record breaking amount.

Today, ESPN Games provided us with the first look at this year’s upcoming NCAA Football 11 from EA Sports. The good news? EA Sports has been listening to gamer’s desires. The game will feature new additions such as formation subs, dynamic conference logos, auto saving, pro-tak and, yes, Alabama fans, numbers on helmets.

Today, Rockstar Games passed on a sweet track created by the music artist Jay Electronica using their game, Beaterator.

Rockstar announced that Jay Electronica stopped by their Beaterator House of Hype Lounge at the MTV Video Music Awards late last year to try out the game for the PSP and, in just minutes, created a sufficiently awesome track.

The demo for Just Cause 2 will arrive on March 4th for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms. The demo will feature a gigantic explorable area of 35 square miles. That expanse, twice the size of the world of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s game world, will feature the Lautan Lama Desert, a “vast expanse of stunning, sun-scorched scenery taking up just one of the many islands in the 400 square miles of the Panau archipelago.”

According to Blizzard, StarCraft II is still on target for a release date in the first half of 2010. The real-time strategy game, sequel to 1997′s genre-defining hit, StarCraft, is currently in closed-beta testing, which should last for “three to five months” according to Production Director Chris Sigaty, who spoke during Blizzard’s weekly BlizzCast.
