My game idea would be to have an open world, fully recreated version of New York City and the suburbs and countryside around it. You play as a detective who is investigating a series of murders of celebrities in and around the city. The game would play like Indigo Prophecy or Heavy Rain. It would be a noir thriller ground in the real world. As you near discovering who the killer is, you get on the subway with your partner and suddenly a bomb goes off. The train shakes and rocks, the lights go off, fire bursts all around and you are knocked out.

You awake and exit the train, slowly finding your way (along with other survivors) out of the subway. You come out into a world that is dark. You can’t see a thing. Slowly, the dust clears and it’s evident that New York has been hit by a nuclear bomb.

From here, the game morphs from a detective story, noir-thriller to a first-person shooter / RPG hybrid. You escape the city only to discover that the bombing wasn’t a terrorist act, as the government says, but was done by the government itself. A zombie plague broke out in the city and the nuclear bomb was the only way to eradicate the threat before it engulfed the nation.

You fight zombies, rescue and work together with survivors, and tackle the US Army, who is attempting to eliminate all people within the “quarantine zone”. You have an open world to explore as you walk through empty ghost towns and find clusters of survivors in your attempt to escape the quarantine zone and survive.
