Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3: ODST continued Bungie’s strong tradition of providing a compelling, action-packed, and essential shooter experience for the 360. Providing a unique outlook on the Halo world, ODST followed Orbital Drop Shock Troopers as they fight in New Mombasa, in Africa, against the Covenant. Scattered across the city after dropping to earth in their Human Entry Vehicle’s, the ODST’s fight against Covenant forces while attempting to reunite.

Halo 3: ODST provided a different light on the Halo story. Rather than fighting as Master Chief, players fought as normal soldiers. Players have the choice to play the campaign as they choose, and Halo 3: ODST came bundled with all of the multiplayer maps from Halo 3, perfect for people who didn’t pay up for all the DLC maps. It also included a new multiplayer mode, Firefight, in which players battled against increasingly difficult waves of enemies, all adding up to a superior experience. Halo 3: ODST is more of what we’ve come to expect from Bungie – excellence.

Halo 3: ODST was yet another winning title in the Halo series, and is our Xbox 360 Game of the Year.

Runners up: Modern Warfare 2, NHL 10

Also ran: Brutal Legend, Left 4 Dead 2, Shadow Complex, Forza Motorsport 3

*The Game of the Year awards were chosen by the votes of our staff. A first place vote for a game received two points while other nominees received one point.

Correction: We did have ODST listed as “Operational Drop Shock Troopers”. Boy are we embarrassed! Thanks for the correction, Bungie!
