I never implied that games should be focused on storytelling more than entertainment. I simply want them to be viewed as much as mediums for storytelling as for pure entertainment vehicles. Games should tell a strong story and provide a great amount of entertainment. The industry would be much better off with games like Mass Effect and Bioshock everywhere than with games such as Rogue Warrior polluting the industry.

No offense but this article musy have been written 10 times over the last 5 years in so many words. How about bringing something new into the "debate" instead of throwing the same obvious shit again. And why would hope for games as storytelling more than entertainment? Please explain.

I was ready to like this article until i found out it was mostly about MW2. How the hell is No Russian mission supposed to be deep and meaningful, where as in a game of GTA, you do 5 times more inconceivable things to about 100 times more people, and they get a kick and a few giggles from blowing up or running over innocents without any remorse or moral constraints. Here's a dollar, go buy yourself a clue.

well, as deep as you obviously think modern warfare 2's storyline is - i have to disagree. It was laughably shallow and designed to entice superficial emotions from superficial people. shock value isnt deep, its just for marketing. This didnt even compare to silly tv shows like 24 or CSI. do some living, do some thinking, then re-visit your thoughts on this in a few years.
